Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission, or KPK, received some unusual guests at their headquarters in Jakarta on Monday (05/03), as dozens of finalists competing in the Puteri Indonesia 2018 beauty pageant arrived to learn about the graft buster's mission.
The finalists arrived at KPK headquarters Monday afternoon to learn more about KPK's precise role in combating corruption in Southeast Asia's largest country, said spokesperson Febri Diansyah.
Febri said that for the commission to eradicate systemic corruption, the public must be active participants, adding that the beauty pageant finalists could help by beginning a public campaign to boost the commission's standing in society.
"It all needs to start with knowledge about what corruption is and how to prevent it. Further, we hope they can distribute the anti-corruption spirit in different opportunities," Febri said.
On Monday, 39 finalists of the beauty pageant were welcomed by leaders of KPK and another anti-corruption organization, Saya Perempuan Antikorupsi.
