Nation Can Be Productive if It Synergizes Culture, Religion and Science: Habibie
Jakarta. Former President Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie has addressed the alumni of the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education, or LPDP, as he spoke about human and national development.
"I am grateful that our country relies on its human resources; not on debts, but on productivity," Habibie said.
LPDP, a governmental body that provides scholarships for higher education, invited more than 2,000 alumni to the event at the Ministry of Finance in Central Jakarta on Monday evening (06/02).
Habibie and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati addressed the audience.
"A nation can be productive only if it synergizes three elements: culture, religion and science," Habibie said.
Productivity, according to him, is not merely about trade balance.
"Excellent human beings don't think about themselves only, they will prepare the conditions for the new generations to flourish," he concluded his speech.
