Jakarta. Dangdut singer Muhammad Ridho Rhoma was nabbed in a drug raid at a hotel in West Jakarta, police said on Saturday (25/03).
Ridho — the son of Indonesia’s legendary "Dangdut King" and chairman of newly-established Idaman Party, Rhoma Irama — was arrested for possession of crystal methamphetamine at the Ibis Hotel Daan Mogot on Friday afternoon.
A pack containing 0.7 gram of the drug — called "sabu" locally — was confiscated from the room Rhido was staying in.
"As of this time, police are still questioning him to find out who and where he got the drugs from," West Jakarta Police’s drug unit chief Supt. Suhermanto told reporters on Saturday afternoon.
Initial investigation revealed Ridho bought the small pack of sabu from a drug dealer for Rp 1.8 million ($135).
Rhoma has not made a statement on his son’s arrest so far.
