Jakarta. Acting Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said on Friday (19/05) that he will lead celebrations for the capital's 499th founding anniversary at Pluit Reservoir in North Jakarta on June 24th.
The acting governor said several ongoing development projects throughout Jakarta will be officiated at the anniversary celebration, including Transjakarta's upcoming corridor 13, which links the South Jakarta neighborhood of Tendean to Ciledug, Tanggerang.
Djarot also said other festivities – so far undisclosed – are planned for the anniversary celebrations.
"We have agreed to celebrate Jakarta’s anniversary on Saturday, June 24, at the Pluit Reservoir. There will be various activities organized by the event committee."
Though the anniversary technically falls on June 22, the city administration has pushed back the celebrations to coincide with the beginning of the Islamic holiday, Idul Fitri.
"We are pursuing the completion of Transjakarta corridor 13, which we expect to officially unveil at the celebrations," Djarot added.
The city administration will also accelerate construction and road safety checks on the ongoing Semanggi flyover project, set to be inaugurated sometime in August.
