'Enjoy Your Stay, Mr. President!' Bali Governor Welcomes Barack Obama
Jakarta. Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika has expressed his great excitement about the arrival of former United States President Barack Obama on Friday (24/06), which he saw as a victory for Bali's tourism sector.
"Enjoy your stay in Bali, Mr. President! If you need anything, just call me. Indonesia is a safe country. [Your visit] is a victory for Bali's tourism," the governor said in a statement on Tuesday, adding that Obama's visit is different than that of King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, as he is no longer the US president.
"However, the Americans always call their former presidents as 'Mr. President,' so it [feels] similar to welcoming the head of a state," Pastika said.
Bali tourism agency head Anak Agung Yuniartha Putra said he is prepared to make sure Obama will enjoy his visit.
"We have everything in Bali, there are beaches, mountains, various cultural and culinary feats," he said proudly.
Obama and his family arrived in Bali on Friday afternoon and went directly to the Four Seasons Hotel in Ubud. They are also scheduled to visit Yogyakarta and Jakarta.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said the president's visit is a great promotion for Indonesia's tourism.
