Gang Behind Daan Mogot Fatal Shooting Committed 23 Other Robberies: Police
Jakarta. Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. M. Iriawan said the gang that killed Davidson Tantono in an armed robbery at a gas station on Jalan Daan Mogot in West Jakarta did not only operate in Jakarta, but also in West Java and Tangerang, Banten.
However, this was their first deadly robbery, which attracted public attention.
"They have done it 23 times at various locations, including West Java, Jakarta and Bogor. Only the recent one involved shooting, murder," Iriawan said during a press conference at the Jakarta Police Headquarters on Wednesday (21/06).
Iriawan said the gang members met at an apartment after the robbery, where they shared the loot, with each receiving Rp 14 million ($1,050).
Davidson had Rp 300 million in cash with him when the gang attacked and shot him on June 10.
Police are currently holding five suspected members of the gang. Two others were shot dead, while four more are still on the run.
Investigation revealed that the gang members carefully planned the robbery and that they also rented an apartment and some vehicles.
According to reports, they spent more than Rp 37 million on operational expenses.
