Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo met with former UN secretary general Kofi Annan to discuss efforts to resolve the humanitarian crisis of the Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine State, Myanmar, at the Bali International Convention Center in Nusa Dua on Thursday, Dec. 8.

"Kofi Annan is the chairman of the advisory committee for Rakhine State. We discussed the humanitarian crisis happening there and he outlined what we need to do to help the Rohingyas," Jokowi told the press after the meeting.

The president said Indonesia will send logistical aid to the Rakhine State as soon as possible.

"I have instructed my minister to prepare aid for immediate delivery," Jokowi said, adding that the first aid package will consist of food and blankets, which the Rohingya people desperately need.

"In the long term, having spoken with [Myanmar's] State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, we will also need capacity building on good government, democracy and also on human rights. We have drafted the programs, and will continue with them as they are extremely important," Retno said.
