ITB Tops Higher Education Ministry's Ranking for Two Consecutive Years
Jakarta. The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education declared the Bandung Institute of Technology, a state research university in West Java, as the best college in the country for the second consecutive year, beating thousands of other universities in the country.
"[The ranking] was based on 2015 data," Muhammad Nasir, the Research, Technology and Higher Education minister, said in a press conference on Wednesday (17/08).
According to Nasir, Bandung Institute of Technology — known simply as ITB — scored 3.78 on a scale of 4, up from 3.74 last year. ITB topped Yogyakarta's University of Gadjah Mada in second place (3.72) and Depok's University of Indonesia in third place (3.69). The Bogor Institute of Agriculture slipped to fourth position, down from third place a year ago.
The ranking, Nasir said, rated the number and quality of lecturers at each university, its study programs, the performance of its students in the science community and the quality of its research.
