One Last Pillar Before Cisomang Bridge Reopens
Jakarta. Public Works Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said on Wednesday (15/03) that the partly closed Cisomang Bridge on the busy Purwakarta-Bandung-Cileunyi Toll Road in West Java will be open again to heavy vehicles by the end of March.
Basuki inspected the site and said the repair works are almost complete.
While the workers are now finishing the last pillar of the bridge, toll operator Jasa Marga diverts vehicles that weigh more than 15 tons, to the main roads of Purwakarta.
Private vehicles and public buses can pass the bridge.
"We are still working on the P1 [pillar] area. Everything else is finished, and in accordance with the plan. Hopefully, the reopening date will be as scheduled," Basuki told the press during the inspection.
"We have placed 37 drilled shafts around the P2 pillar, and 25 around P1. We have also installed ground anchors and steel struts," Basuki said.
In the final phase, P1 will be covered with a 25-centimeter layer of fiber-reinforced polymer.
Final safety assessments will be conducted before the bridge is reopened.
