Sandiaga Uno Reported to Police for Alleged Embezzlement
Jakarta. Sandiaga Uno, running mate of Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Anies Baswedan, has been reported to police last week for alleged misappropriation of funds.
Businessman Djoni Hidayat and his lawyer, Fransiska Kumalawati Susilo, filed the report against Sandiaga and his business partner, Andreas Tjahjad, with the Jakarta Police on March 8.
Fransiska said Sandiaga and Andreas embezzled money when they sold land on Jalan Raya Curug in South Tangerang, Banten, in 2012.
"It is correct; alleged embezzlement. I have reported it to the Jakarta Police. It was embezzlement related to a piece of land in Jalan Raya Curug," Fransiska said on Monday (13/03).
The lawyer said her client tried to resolve the issue through mediation, but that Sandiaga and Andreas did not respond positively.
"Lastly, I tried to contact Sandiaga through WhatsApp, but he did not respond. I have not communicated with Andreas for a long time," Fransiska added.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono confirmed the report.
"It is correct. Fransiska reported it. The next step will be a preliminary investigation," Argo said.
The Tanah Abang Police in Central Jakarta previously summoned Sandiaga for questioning over allegations of defamation.
Sandiaga and Anies will contest the second round of the Jakarta gubernatorial election against incumbent pair Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat on April 19.
