Tourism Ministry Hosts Training Session in Palembang
Jakarta. The Ministry of Tourism presented basic training to employees of state-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Thursday (13/07) as part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia's tourism industry.
In a press release received by the Jakarta Globe, the ministry's deputy for tourism organizational development, Ahman Sya, said the program is intended to boost the quality of human resources in the country's tourism industry.
"In tourism, service is key. This is important across all fields where tourism crosses paths, which includes airport workers," Ahman said, as quoted in the press release.
Around 200 people participated in the training session, where the importance of hospitality and friendliness was highlighted.
"Excellent service is what makes the tourism industry, so it's important that airport officials and employees give the best service to customers. After all, they are among the first people foreign tourists encounter, giving them their first impression of the country," Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said.
