Tourism Ministry Trains 200 Teachers in Ternate
Jakarta. In a bid to improve human resources in the tourism sector, the Ministry of Tourism has been organizing various training programs, also in Ternate, North Maluku.
The program for Ternate teachers, held on Thursday (15/06), was focused on the role of education in supporting tourism development in North Maluku.
"The training, meant to increase the basic knowledge of human resources in tourism, was held for vocational and high school teachers, who are expected to become the agents of change in the development of tourism in Ternate," the ministry's deputy for tourism education development Ahman Sya said in a statement on Friday.
The training's participants learnt about services that should be developed in tourism destinations and the potential of their own region.
Ahman added that similar training programs will be conducted in other regions. The ministry seeks to certify 65,000 people in human resources development by the end of 2017.
"It is crucial to win the future customers. Therefore, tourism education programs are very relevant," Arief said, adding that those in the sector should be able to implement global standards.
