Paralympics to Follow 2018 Asian Games

Jakarta. Indonesia will host the 2018 Asian Para Games after the 2018 Asian Games, at the same venues in Jakarta and in South Sumatra's Palembang.

While the first games event is scheduled for August-September next year, the paralympics will follow shortly after with 17 disciplines and 45 countries participating.

"Among the 17 disciplines are athletics, powerlifting, fencing, volleyball, chess and many more," secretary general at the Sports Ministry Secretary, Gatot Dewa Broto, said during a meeting with the Asian Paralympic Committee in Jakarta on Thursday (16/03).

Sports Ministry has appointed Raja Sapta Oktohari, current chairman of the Indonesian Cycling Federation (ISSI), as the head of the 2018 Asian Para Games organizing committee.

The 2018 Asian Para Games will start on Oct. 8, 2018.
