Jakarta Election Official Results Almost the Same as Quick Counts
Jakarta. The Jakarta Election Commission, or KPUD, on Sunday (30/04) released the results of the recapitulation of votes in the second round of the capital city's gubernatorial race.
According to the official results, Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno won 57.96 percent of the vote, nearly 16 percent more than incumbent Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat.
"We signed the election results report, Ahok-Djarot received 2,350,366 votes, while Anies-Sandiaga 3,240,987," KPUD chairman Sumarno said in a conference at the Aryaduta Hotel in Jakarta.
Among 7,218,254 Jakarta residents who had the right to vote, 1,626,901 did not cast their ballots.
Anies won in all districts of the capital city.
In the Thousand Island district Anies-Sandiaga got 8,796 votes (62 percent). In North Jakarta — 466,340 votes (52.73 percent).
Central Jakarta granted 333,033 ballots (57.77 percent) to the governor-elect, while West Jakarta, which was earlier considered pro Ahok-Djarot, gave them 684,980 (52.82 percent).
The most populous region, East Jakarta, also chose Anies-Sandiaga with 993.174 votes (61.87 percent), while in the middle-class area of South Jakarta there were 754,665 votes (62.15 percent) in favor of the pair.
Quick count results by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC), right after the polling stations were closed on April 19, indicated that Anies and Sandiaga won 58.31 percent of the vote.
Cyrus Network also recorded a landslide win for the pair with 57.39 percent of the vote.
KPUD will officially announce the winner on May 5, to allow potential electoral disputes be settled by the Constitutional Court.
