Jakarta. The Judicial Commission has urged the Supreme Court to announce to the public the track records of three judges in the recently concluded blasphemy trial of outgoing Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama, who all received a promotion a day after the trial ended.

Dwiarso Budi Santiarto, who headed the team of judges, was appointed as a new judge in the Denpasar High Court in Bali. Jupriyadi and Abdul Rosyad were also promoted.

Some say the promotion was a reward for turning out a guilty verdict for Ahok, who has been put behind bars for two years.

"It's better for the Supreme Court to be transparent and announce the track records of these judges to the public, so everyone can see if they earned their promotions based on performance," Judicial Commission spokesman Farid Wajdi told state news agency Antara on Wednesday (12/05).

Farid said it is understandable that some people are suspicious of the promotion since it was made just a day after the end of Ahok's trial.

Announcing the track records of the judges may end those suspicions, he added.
