Lemhannas to Present Jakarta Geopolitical Forum 2017
Jakarta. State security think-tank, the National Resilience Institute, or Lemhannas, will bring together Indonesian scholars in Jakarta this week to help identify ways the country can best cope with a changing geopolitical environment.
The Jakarta Geopolitical Forum, titled "Geopolitics in a Changing World," will take place at the Borobudur Hotel on May 18-20.
In addition to Indonesian scholars, the event will also feature speakers from the United States, Australia, Europe, China, India and more.
Some sessions during the forum will include geopolitical reviews, global peace and security studies, and discussions on global economic developments, extremism, radicalism and terrorism, the environment and climate change, as well as refugees and migration.
"Many international scholars and analysts will share their perspectives in identifying the messages of a changing geopolitical environment," said Lemhannas governor Agus Widjojo, who is a retired Indonesian Military (TNI) general.
This year's conference will coincide with the 52nd anniversary of Lemhannas. It also coincides with National Revivification Day.
"Lemhannas was officially established by President Sukarno on May 20, 1965. Any Lemhannas anniversary has been always been inspired by the spirit of National Revivification Day," Agus said.
