Prospective Provincial Gubernatorial Candidates Across 17 Provinces Announced

Jakarta. The General Elections Commission, or KPU, received registrations for candidate pairs to run in local elections this year in 115 districts across 17 provinces on Jan. 8-10.

The candidates will be administratively and medically examined before they are given the green light to campaign.

KPU offices will announce candidates who pass the examination phase on Feb. 12.

Among those running for provincial office include  Saifullah Yusuf, the great grandson of the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama, Indonesia's largest Muslim organization, and Puti Guntur Soekarno, the granddaughter of former President Soekarno.

Below are the names of potential candidates to run in gubernatorial elections in 17 provinces from parties like Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), People's Conscience Party (Hanura), National Democratic Party (Nasdem), National Mandate Party (PAN), Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), Golkar Party, United Development Party (PPP), Democratic Party and National Awakening Party (PKB), the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI), Democratic Party (Demokrat) and Crescent Star Party (PBB):
