Jakarta. Digital tech-based financial service company OVO has added another loyalty incentive for its members after it secured a partnership with Lion Air Group.
The partnership allows OVO users to get 20,000 loyalty points (equal to Rp 20,000, or $1.4) every time they use the service of Lion's companies Wings Air, Batik Air and Lion Air from Dec. 8 to Jan. 7.
The cooperation allows the airlines to tap into OVO's extensive user base, OVO director Johnny Widodo told reporters in Jakarta on Friday (15/12).
"We have seven million users who are able to use OVO at 20,000 merchants in 75 cities across the country. I think those facts are appealing to them," Johnny said.
"OVO users just need to scan the barcode on their boarding pass and the points will be obtained," he said.
Johnny revealed that the scheme has significantly boosted transactions with thousands of users having been attracted to it.
OVO and Lion agree to have a more long-term relationship featuring other promotional deals yet to be disclosed. "Lion is very excited [to work] with us, we'll extend our partnership obviously," Johnny said.
"Lion Group has 700 flights with 200,000 passengers each day... the biggest [in Indonesia]," he said while explaining why OVO chooses Lion as the partner.
OVO, part of Lippo Group, has been doing a lot of promotional work to boost brand awareness, including by providing digital payment service for online ride-hailing company Grab and offering Rp 1 parking fee at certain malls and buildings.
"Loyalty points and incentives are part of our strength, so they will be part of our strategies in years ahead," Johnny said.
