Asian Agri Ready to Supply Farmers With High-Quality Oil Palm Seeds
Jakarta. The government has called for the rejuvenation of 185,000 hectares of palm oil plantation this year.
Palm oil producer Asian Agri said in a in a press release on Thursday (19/07) that at least 27 million quality palm oil seeds are required to meet the government's goal.
The company added that as one of the country's top palm oil producers, it is committed to help with the supply of quality seeds. Until June this year, Asian Agri, through its research and development facility, has supplied more than 4 million seeds to farmers and companies.
Asian Agri is currently producing and supplying Topaz Series-3 seeds – a hybrid of selected Dura Deli seeds and Pisifera seeds from Africa – to produce high-quality seedlings with high yields.
Seed specialist Ang Boon Beng said the correct seed selection is key to obtaining the best and most sustainable results from oil palms.
"The ongoing palm oil rejuvenation project across Indonesia brings just the right momentum for farmers and palm oil companies to choose the best seeds, considering that there are a lot of inferior quality seeds sold online," Ang said.
"We urge farmers to first do their research before buying seeds to avoid purchasing the wrong product, because it will have a long-term impact on their production."
