Jakarta. Lippo Group donated essential items to fire victims at Zion Church in Pinangsia, Taman Sari, West Jakarta on Sunday (08/01).
Wahyudi Hidayat, representing Lippo Group, said they donated clothing items and food for all victims of all ages including milk for toddlers.
"The most important thing is getting children to go back to school, and making sure they get enough food and rest. It also helps that there's good water supply here," he said.
Pinangsia urban ward chief, Ilham Agustian, thanked Lippo Group for the donation, which helped 700 evacuees gain access to daily essentials.
Ilham also commented on the state of the evacuees, saying that most are in good health. However, there are some who have complained of breathing difficulties due to ingesting excessive smoke.
"So far we've got all we need, even undergarments and milk for toddlers. Lippo Group has provided us with our essential needs," Ilham said.
After losing their homes, the victims are seeking refuge at the Fajar Sion Christian School, located in the church complex. However, now that school has started, evacuees have been moved to tents around Zion church, provided by Jakarta's Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency, or BPBD.
"We set the tents up here so that they don't have to move too far," Ilham said.
He also expressed hope that after a week, a decision would be made on where the evacuees would stay.
