Ministry Announces Winners of 'Mental Revolution' Multimedia Contest
Jakarta. The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs recently announced the winners of its so-called Mental Revolution contest, which consisted of Instagram videos, comic strips, games and apps.
According to an official statement, the award ceremony took place at the ministry's headquarters in Jakarta in December.
The contest was meant to get the public to actively participate in spreading the message of the Mental Revolution movement.
Through visual and multimedia content, other people are expected to get the hang of what the Mental Revolution really is and come up with their own ways to contribute in making a difference in Indonesia.
"Seeing today's phenomena, I hope the winning works can go viral nationwide and even globally," Mental Revolution task force leader, Arief Budimanta, said.
The contest embodied three themes, "Indonesia Serves," "Clean Indonesia," and "Orderly Indonesia" – the movement's key pillars.
Among the entries were 54 Instagram videos, 51 A4-sized comic strips, seven gaming apps and seven interactive public service apps aimed at connecting the public and the government.
Three winners were selected in each category. The first winners received Rp 8 million ($600) in prize money, with Rp 6 million for the first runner up and Rp 4 million for the second runner up. The favorite entry in each category received Rp 2 million.
In the Instagram video category, "Ketahuilah Rambu-Rambu Lalu Lintas" ("Get to Know the Traffic Signs") by Isma'iyah Sholichati was selected as the winner, followed by "Karena Kebiasaan Baik Itu Menular" ("Because Good Habits are Contagious") by Yuswar Malik Muhammad and "Mari Lakukan Gerakan Indonesia Tertib Berlalu Lintas Untuk Membuat Indonesia Lebih Baik" ("Let's Obey the Traffic Rules for a Better Indonesia") by Sudibyo Saputro in the third was with while the favorite was "Kebiasaan Yang Baik Membawa Pengaruh Baik Juga, Semua Kita Mulai Dari Diri Sendiri" ("It All Started From Ourselves") by Miranda Yuka.
The comic strip category was won by Rabendra Yudistira Alamin with "Suatu Ketika di Masa Lalu ("Once Upon a Time in the Past"). Armen Hamonangan with "Abang Ojek Bang Jek" ("Ojek Driver") came second, while Supriyanto with "180 Derajat Indonesia Bersih" ("180 Degrees of Clean Indonesia") was third. Yan Baptista Teguh Patrianto's "Sabar Juga Revolusi Mental" ("Patience Is Also Mental Revolution") was the chosen as the favorite.
The "Shame Tower" game by Arie Setiawan won the gaming application category, while "Game Punah" ("Extinct Game") by Rifqi Maharsi was in second place followed by "Kantin Kejujuran" ("Self-Service Canteen") by Adi Nugroho Tjandrasaputra. The favorite was "Hemat Air Yuk" ("Let's Save Water") by Lazuardi Yaqub Affan.
The four winning apps were "urusijin.co.id" by Dwi Yoga Wahyu Hadi Nugroho, "iGaTah3" by Syahrul Mauluddin, "Toilet Bersih Indonesia" ("Clean Toilets in Indonesia") by Yugnan Adi Sasongko, and "sampahpedia" ("trashpedia") by Maman Nasrullah.
