Jakarta. Through the "BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri", or "SOEs Are There for the Nation," program, the Ministry of State Enterprises is distributing food, clothing and housing in 34 provinces.
"This program aims to build stakeholders' understanding of the role of the Ministry of State Enterprises and SOEs as agents of development participating in national capacity building," said Minister Rini Soemarno during a visit to Petojo Selatan, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (18/08).
In Jakarta, the program was spearheaded by Telkom Indonesia as the coordinator, accompanied by Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (KBN), the State Printing Company (PNRI) and Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (JIEP).
"I'm very grateful to the SOEs that serve the community through the BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri program," Rini said, adding that the government encourages all state-owned companies to contribute, also in the education sector by renovating schools and supporting teaching and learning activities.
"With adequate facilities, children will be more motivated to study and achieve, and hopefully contribute to the country's future development," she said.
"It is the responsibility of SOEs to be at the forefront of Indonesia's development and improvement of its welfare," said Telkom president director Alex Sinaga.
In Mamuju, West Sulawesi, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) implemented its CSR program by providing electricity and sanitation to 50 households. It also conducted training for small businesses.
In Aceh, Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) and Surveyor Indonesia did the same and also helped in developing housing, offices, improving school facilities and distributed scholarships.
