Jakarta. Taspen, a state institution managing Indonesian civil servants' retirement funds, in cooperation with Telkom Indonesia subsidiary Sigma Cipta Caraka, or Telkomsigma, and Pension Pay Partners, launched a digital pension payment service during an event at Novotel Bogor Golf Resort & Convention Center in Bogor, West Java, on Jan. 19.
Present at the launch were the directors of Taspen, Telkom director of enterprise and business service Dian Rachmawan, and Telkomsigma chief executive Judi Achmadi.
The launch followed the signing of a cooperation agreement on the development and implementation of the digitalization of the retirement payment service, implemented by the Telkom Group and Taspen in October last year.
The digitalizing of retirement payment services included the development of a new e-pension system, and the national implementation of the Taspen Smartcard by partners using centralized biometric-based online authentication, such as fingerprint scanning, face recognition and voice recognition.
"The tech update will help Taspen to authenticate eligible participants, facilitate monitoring and report on the implementation of pension payments. This will speed up the reconciliation and reporting process and accelerate retirement services," Taspen president director Iqbal Latanro said during the launch.
"This is also part of an effort by the government to increase accountability in pension fund management and minimize fraud. Not only that, we've also provided added value with the Taspen Smartcard, which the Telkom Group is expecting to not only improve and benefit both companies, but also contribute to economic growth in Indonesia," Iqbal said.
During the same occasion, Dian Rachmawan said that as a state-owned enterprise, Telkom has ensured that infrastructure being developed for the e-pension and enrollment will be secure, based on new authentication measures.
"Previously integrated infrastructure will be upgraded with new authentication systems, either via a device provided by partners, or through a Taspen participant's personal device," Dian said.
"As for enrollment, the Telkom Group has prepared infrastructure, such as data recording devices, apps, networks and biometric licenses set for installation and implementation," Dian said.
