Telkom Celebrates 18th Birthday With Fun Run
Jakarta. To celebrate the 18th anniversary of its founding, Telkomunikasi Indonesia held a running event for its workers in Jakarta on Sunday (08/04).
According to Asep Mulyana, chairman of Telkom's workers association known as Sekar Telkom, there have been many celebrations organized by the company since its official birthday on March 1.
Sekar Telkom Fun Run followed other events such as Sekar Telkom Fun Bike and a table tennis contest for state enterprises in Bandung, West Java, a series of blood donations, and seminars, including the National Seminar and Workshop on Telecommunications Regulations in Jakarta.
The Sekar run was the first running event by Sekar Telkom in Jakarta, with participants competing in a five- and 10-kilometer race.
Sekar secretary general Abdul Karim said the run was supported by the company's runners community, leaders of its trade unions, employees and the Ministry of Manpower.
He added that the event was also an effort to encourage the culture of healthy living, especially in Jakarta.
"The spirit of healthy living and mutual progress is a form of devotion to the country, which should be nurtured and developed," Abdul said.
Daniel Syafril, chairman of the Daily Telkom Runner community, expressed his hope that the run will encourage more people to join the company's group of runners.
"With Sekar Telkom Fun Run 2018 we want to invite runners to care for others in order to embrace a healthy lifestyle," said Teguh Herman, chairman of the event's organizing committee.
