Telkom Indonesia Rises on Brand Finance Global 500 List
Jakarta. In a report released by Brand Finance in February, Telkom Indonesia moved up to 341st place on the Brand Finance Global 500 list, from 386th place last year.
Telkom Indonesia's brand value increased significantly to $5.2 billion this year, from $4.33 billion last year. This makes it the most valuable company in Southeast Asia, as well as the number one in Indonesia.
Arif Prabowo, Telkom's vice president of corporate communications, welcomed the assessment by the brand consulting firm, saying that the state-owned firm is currently working towards strengthening its position as the main digital communications company not only in Indonesia, but also in Southeast Asia, by establishing global infrastructure.
Several key infrastructure projects are already underway to bolster Telkom's services in Indonesia. Megaprojects, such as the Sea Cable Communications System (SCCS), Southeast-Asia, Middle-East, West-Europe 5 (SEA-ME-WE 5) optical fiber submarine communications cable system, Southeast-Asia, United States (SEA-US) cable system and Indonesia Global Gateway (IGG) will soon lay the foundations for Indonesia to become a global telecommunications hub.
"We currently have a fiber-optic network, serving as Telkom's backbone, that spans 86,600 kilometers from Sabang to Merauke. With the addition of the Sea Cable System we will have a total of 163,000 km that can circle the world more than four times," Arif said in a press release on Monday (04/06).
"Telkom's digital business is always improving. We hope that we can further utilize the sustained economic growth of Indonesia, because the growth will come with increased use of data and the internet by companies and individuals," Arif said.
