Telkom Invites Public For Healthy Lifestyle Through "Let's Walk"
As part of celebrating its 52nd Anniversary while commemorating National Children's Day, and to encourage public interest to get used to walking, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero), Tbk (Telkom) launched the movement #AyoBerjalan (#LetsWalk) with the theme "Stepping Cheers For Healthy Body".
Marking the launch of this walking movement Telkom started from the internal walk through the FUN Walk 5.2 km followed by employees in the TelkomGroup Family FUNtastic Day event on Sunday (30/7) which start and finish at Telkom Landmark Tower, Jakarta.
According to Telkom's Human Capital Management Director Herdy R. Harman, #LetsWalk program is a Telkom initiative to remind the public that walking is part of a healthy lifestyle and is a low-cost sport that anyone can do anywhere, anytime. This movement was inspired by several scientific publications that placed Indonesians at the bottom of the population with an average daily pace.
"The Stanford University survey shows that Indonesia is the most rarely walking country, which is an average of 3,512 steps per day while the average 111 countries in the world is 4,961 steps per day," Herdy said, citing recent research from Stanford University Published.
"The condition if left unchecked, and will become unhealthy living habits for the next generation. In fact, walking and exercise habits can improve a person's positive mood. Walking also affects the improvement of creativity, imagination, insight, and productivity, "continued Herdy R. Harman.
In addition, citing the University of Cambridge study, which states, walking habits can encourage positive energy, positive mood, and improve psychological health (happiness), one does not need to run such a heavy exercise marathon run. Action should be done is to carry out light physical activity on a regular basis, one of them on foot.
The FUNtastic Day event is also a reflection of Telkom in the midst of information technology and communication technology development from time to time. "Celebrating Telkom's 52nd Anniversary which falls on July 6, 2017, Telkom is committed to improving its service, bringing convenience to the community through digital telecommunications products and services, as well as various social responsibility activities as a form of devotion to the nation.
On the same occasion, TelkomGroup also "invites" the community to help other people in need through donations such as the construction of 52 crossing bridges in remote areas, provision of assistance to schools whose facilities are not feasible, foundations and community of children broke up Schools and homeless, as well as social institutions. Hopefully, through such assistance can encourage them to keep moving towards their dreams. "All of this is an offering of Telkom Indonesia for the Children of Indonesia in the spirit of National Children Day," said Herdy.
