Telkom Stokes Sporting Spirit in Bali
Jakarta. Telkom held a "Red-and-White Energy" event at Garuda Wisnu Kencana Festival Park in Badung, Bali, on Tuesday (24/07) to welcome the arrival of the Asian Games torch on the island.
Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi and House of Representatives Speaker Bambang Soesatyo were among the dignitaries who attended the event.
"We want to thank everyone participating in the torch relay, hopefully this will liven up the spirits of those competing in the Asian Games to make Indonesia proud," the minister said during the event.
"As one of the official telecommunications partners for the 18th Asian Games, Telkom has prepared a 24/7 network, providing a media center for media crews from across Asia, and provide internet access for the athletes and everyone who will be at Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex [in Jakarta] during the event," said Dian Rachmawan, Telkom director of enterprise and business services.
The "Red-and-White Energy" event formed part of Telkom's corporate social responsibility program to show its appreciation to former athletes who competed in previous Asian Games, such as I Gusti Nengah Washa, Ni Wayan Badengwati and Pino Bahari.
Telkom will also welcome the torch in Parapat, North Sumatra, on Aug. 1, Palembang, South Sumatra, on Aug. 4, and Bandung, West Java, on Aug. 11.
