After the National Disaster Management Agency (BPBP) stated that there was an increase in the volcanic activity level of Gunung Agung in Karangasem regency, Bali Province to level IV (Awas), TelkomGroup as one of the institutions that both employees and infrastructure are in the affected area, has made some anticipation. The anticipation is done both to secure the means of production, human resources and the preparation of emergency response assistance for disaster-affected people.
"We give top priority to the security of telecommunication infrastructure in the nearest location to Gunung Agung," said Vice President of Corporate Communication Telkom Arif Prabowo in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/9). He said the security of the infrastructure is to ensure the implementation of telecommunications services, especially to support communication and coordination of disaster management tasks.
The various preventive and curative measures necessary to ensure the delivery of services have been taken. Similarly to the security of telecommunication infrastructure, TelkomGroup has prepared several alternative recoveries so that services to TelkomGroup customers are maintained.
The number of telecommunication infrastructure in the nearest radius of Gunung Agung location are: 36 Telkomsel BTS (Base Transceiver Station), 4 STO (Automatic Telephone Central) sites in Amlapura, Candidasa, Kintamani and Bangli, 4 OLT (Optical Line Termination) as well as radio in Tulamben, Sidemen, Central Bukit, and Bukit Penulisan.
Arif Prabowo added, "To support disaster management, Telkom Group has prepared BTS Combat Telkomsel, Access Point Wifi.id, Indihome Fiber and Cable Phone at Posko location to assist officers and refugees. "Telkom established 'Telkom Group Disaster Standby Post-Disaster Preparedness Post at Telkom Klungkung's office location to keep telecommunication services be it fixed broadband or cellular, so people can communicate quickly, easily and comfortably.
In Command Post Siaga, with the spirit of SOEs Present for the State, TelkomGroup is present to prepare telecommunication facilities and infrastructure centered at three locations, namely Command Post located in Karangasem (Tanah Ampo Dock, Banjar Tanahampo Service, Ulakan Village, Manggis Subdistrict, Karangasem Regency) Emergency Response Post in GOR Suwecapura, Klungkung, and Mount Agung Post in Rendang, Karangasem.
For all monitoring post or refugee post in Karangasem, Klungkung and Buleleng areas, internet network is installed either from Telkomsel (Mobile BTS Telkomsel) or Indihome Fiber to facilitate Posko officers in North Bali area to communicate. While in evacuation sites, such as in Klungkung, Karangasem, Abang, and Buleleng areas, to facilitate communication, Telkomsel has optimized the existing site.
Meanwhile, to help the refugees, TelkomGroup has distributed the aid of fast food, bedding, and blankets. Other assistance will be prepared according to the needs and circumstances of Mount Agung, including medical personnel and medicines. Telkom hopes that with the anticipated steps that have been prepared, the impact of increasing volcanic activity of Gunung Agung can help the interested parties while minimizing the impact of the disaster.
