Air Force Chief Promises Zero-Accident Policy
Jakarta. Newly appointed Air Force chief Air Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto has promised to implement a zero-accident policy, despite the difficulties the Army is facing in its weapon management system.
"We will minimize the number of accidents. We hope there'll be no at all," Hadi said after a formal handover ceremony with his predecessor Air Marshall Agus Supriatna in East Jakarta on Friday (20/01).
The ceremony was led by Indonesian Military chief Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo. Among those in attendance were also the National Police chief and top Army officials.
Gatot has instructed the new Air Force chief to assess the weapon management system, especially for the fighter jets and passenger aircraft, as there have been too many accidents.
"To build the Air Force, we should have enough courage to evaluate ourselves, especially in terms of our weaponry system. In recent months, we have seen many accidents, in which we've lost both the crew members and equipment. The situation must improve," Gatot said.
