Police, Military Deploy 650 Members to Secure Independence Day Celebration in Papua

Jakarta. The Papua Police have deployed 400 officers and an additional 250 members of the Indonesian Military to secure the Independence Day celebrations in the provincial capital Jayapura on Wednesday (17/08).

Papua Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Patrige told Beritasatu.com on Tuesday afternoon that the police have started to impose security measures a week ahead of the celebrations and despite unresolved issues in the province, there should be no disturbances or security threats on Independence Day.
