Police to Deploy 10,000 Personnel to Secure Saudi King's Visit
Jakarta. National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. Syafruddin said nearly 10,000 officers will be deployed to secure the visit by Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to Indonesia this week.
King Salman and his entourage will be in Jakarta and Bogor, West Java, for an official visit from Wednesday (01/03) before proceeding to Bali on Saturday for a five-day vacation.
An entourage of around 1,500 men will accompany the king during his visit to the archipelago.
"In Jakarta, we will deploy a joint team of 2,000 personnel from several institutions. In Bogor, we will have 2,252 personnel deployed and in Bali we will deploy 5,000, since we expect that the king will come with a huge entourage and delegation," Syafruddin said after a meeting with Saudi Ambassador Osama bin Mohammed Abdullah Al Shuaibi in Jakarta on Monday.
"I hope every single part of the plan during this visit will run smoothly for the sake of good ties between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia," the senior officer added.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will bestow Indonesia's highest honor on King Salman, in reciprocation of the honorary medal Jokowi received during his state visit to Saudi Arabia.
He will also welcome the king at the airport – the first time the president will do so for a state guest.
King Salman will sign a $6 billion investment deal related to Saudi Arabian oil company Aramco's refinery complex in Cilacap, Central Java. Other agreements totaling around $1 billion involving various projects, will also be signed.
