"Frieda," a 1950 film by a Japanese-Korean director who became an Indonesian citizen, Dr. Huyung, was screened at the experimental film festival Arkipel in Jakarta on Wednesday (23/08). Huyung was a medical doctor who served in the Korean and then the Japanese army during the second world war. He became an Indonesian citizen after Indonesia gained independence in 1945. The theme of the annual Arkipel festival this year is "Penal Colony." (JG Photo/Yudha Baskoro)
