Inasgoc Launches Web Portal for 2018 Asian Games Volunteers
Jakarta. With 11 months remaining before the start of the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra, the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee, or Inasgoc, officially launched an online portal to assist people interested in serving as volunteers during the event.
Inasgoc chairman Erick Thohir inaugurated the portal during a ceremony at the organization's offices in Jakarta on Monday (18/09).
"Exactly a month after the one-year countdown of the 2018 Asian Games, we've launched a recruitment portal for volunteers who will be involved in Asia's biggest sporting event. I hope that many young Indonesians will be attracted to participate because this mega-event belongs to us and we must succeed together," Erick said.
"It's uncertain if we will get a similar opportunity within the next 56 years to host the games, so this is a big opportunity to take part," he said. "If you are young, can speak English and have good communication skills, I invite you to be part of us."
Inasgoc said it needs about 13,000 volunteers during the event, with most expected to be undergraduate students.
The vacancies are also open to foreign candidates.
"The general requirements for foreign and local volunteers are that they must be older than 18, be fluent in English or other Asian languages, energetic, communicative and able to work in a team," said Pusparani Hakim, coordinator of Inasgoc's volunteer department.
"All applicants will go through a rigorous screening process, which will involve the relevant government agencies," she added.
To register as a volunteer, candidates can visit volunteer.asiangames2018.id.
