Jakarta. Despite dominating throughout their Indonesia Soccer Championship game against Persegres Gresik United on Wednesday (07/12), Persija Jakarta lost by 0-1, thanks to their star striker Pacho Kenmogne, who missed three excellent opportunities.

Playing its home game away from Jakarta at Manahan Stadium in Solo, Central Java, Persija conceded the only goal of the game in the 59th minute after a fast break involving Gresik's Patrick da Silva, who made an assist to Ghozali Siregar. The latter struck a powerful shot inside the box which could not be stopped by goalkeeper Rizky Darmawan.

Persija could have equalized a minute later as the referee granted a penalty kick after Greg Nwokolo was tripped in the box, but penalty taker Kenmogne sent the ball wide.

The Cameroonian striker Kenmogne wasted many chances during the game, such as in the 29th minute, when he delivered a volley that was cleared on the goal line by defender Ahmad Faris.

Kenmogne, a former player of Belgian side Royal Antwerp, also failed to convert two clear chances in the 67th minute and during injury time with the first shot being blocked by goalie Satria Tama and his last header hitting the bar.

Gresik United, who mostly only focused on defense, arguably did not take another clear chance after the first goal, yet successfully kept its win until the final whistle.

Both teams are currently in the bottom zone of ISC table, with Persija in 14th and Gresik in 17th out of 18 teams. There are two weeks left to finish the ISC's breakaway championship, which was designated to replace Indonesia Super League after a dispute within the national football governing body, PSSI.
