Businesses Offer Discounts to Boost Sales During Gubernatorial Election
Jakarta. The hype of regional elections does not only see celebrities and public figures involved, but also Indonesia's business community, which is offering various kinds of discounts to boost sales.
With ink marks on their fingers, which indicate that one has cast his vote at a polling station, customers can enjoy special offers provided by several vendors.
Fast food restaurant Carl's Junior has a unique promo on the election day, on Wednesday (15/02), for people whose names are similar to Jakarta's gubernatorial candidates — Agus, Ari, Sylvi, Ana, Bas, Pur, Jarot, Aya, Ani, Dan, Andi, and Aga can purchase Classic Burgers for Rp 25,000 ($1.8) only.
For the same names, another fast food outlet, Wingstop, offers a dozen crunchy wings for Rp 60,000.
The Duck King restaurant wrote on its official Twitter account it will give 100 percent cashback vouchers to voters who make their transactions in Jakarta on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

Dominos Pizza adds free pizzas to its Medium Hand Tossed Premium Pizza purchases on Wednesday, while cake shop Bakerzin offers free galaxy macaroons to its first 100 customers.
Apart from food sellers, Sogo department store also has special offers, with additional 20 percent discounts and e-vouchers on the election day.
Electronic City has a 15 percent discount on all its products. Entertainment venue Water Kingdom Mekarsari cut its prices 50 percent in Jakarta and Bekasi.
Barber Gentology offers a 50 percent discount to anyone called John, Day, Murti, Yudho, Yono, Basuki, Ahok, Djarot, Saeful, Hidayat, Anies, Sandi, or Uno, while transportation service Uber offers rides with a Rp 30,000 discount.
