Bali Blues Festival: Another World-Class Event on Island of the Gods
Jakarta. The Ministry of Tourism and Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation, or ITDC, held the Bali Blues Festival 2017 on May 26-27 on Peninsula Island in Nusa Dua, Bali, as part of a concerted effort to promote the "Indonesia Incorporated" initiative and boost tourism in the country.
According to ITDC director Abdulbar Mansoer, Nusa Dua in Bali continues to be a favorite venue for world events, including for the Annual Meeting of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.
"ITDC and the Tourism Ministry will organize more world-class festivals in Nusa Dua. We're planning to have a music festival every month here," Abdulbar said, according to a statement received by the Jakarta Globe.
Bali is no stranger to world-class festivals, the Tourism Ministry’s marketing development deputy, I Gde Pitana, said, pointing out events such as the Bali Beach Festival, Bali Spirit Festival and Bali Jazz Festival.
"Bali is perfect for all sorts of big events, including music festivals. This one [Bali Blues Festival] attracted many international visitors. We hope they'll all come back here for another holiday," Pitana said.
The Bali Blues Festival featured many legendary Indonesian artists and bands, including Gugun Blues Shelter, Indra Lesmana, Dialog Dini Hari and Six Strings.
Pitana added that Bali serves as a cultural tour hub for Indonesia. Holding world-class events in Bali is a clever move to introduce more international tourists to Indonesian culture.
According to Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, Bali has the complete package of travel attractions.
"It has strong culture, wonderful nature and creative man-made landmarks," Arief said.
