East Nusa Tenggara Hosts Soekarno Month Festivities Ahead of Pancasila Day
Jakarta. East Nusa Tenggara's Ende district is currently hosting the 2017 Pesona Kebangsaan Parade as part of Soekarno Month, which kicked off on National Awakening Day on May 20 and will continue hosting festivities until Pancasila Day on Thursday (01/06).
Pancasila is the state ideology and foundational philosophical theory codified under Indonesia's first president, Soekarno.
"There will also be a night meditation session held at Taman Soekarno on Wednesday," Tourism Ministry marketing development deputy Esthy Reko Astuti said.
Soekarno Month will also feature a movie screening on the life of Soekarno, wayang (shadow puppet) performances and traditional Flores music concerts.
The parade itself will feature the Napaktilas Alam Soekarno nature expedition, Ende Cultural Expo, Pesona Ende photography competition, sailboat races, the launch of national Pancasila Library and other festivities. However, the main event, Pancasila Ceremony, will be held on the last day of the event.
