Garuda to Begin Flights From Jakarta to Banyuwangi Next Month
Jakarta. National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia will inaugurate its first flight from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta to Blimbingsari Airport in Banyuwangi, East Java, on June 21, with three state ministers onboard.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi and Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita have confirmed their attendance on Garuda's inaugural flight, according to a statement released on Friday (26/05).
Arief said the opening of the Jakarta-Banyuwangi flight will allow tourists from the nation's capital to more easily reach popular destinations in East Java. According to the Tourism Ministry, the new route will help Banyuwangi further develop its hospitality services.
The Jakarta-Banyuwangi flight will connect Jakartans to neighboring regions of Banyuwangi, including Situbondo, Bondowoso and Jember.
Arief and Enggartiasto will also officiate the soft opening of the four-star El Royale Hotel & Resort Banyuwangi, which features Osing tribal architectural structures.
Banyuwangi district head Abdullah Azwar Anas will guide the ministers on their visit to the region.
Arief will also unveil special training sessions for as many as 150 leading hospitality professionals in the area.
