Jakarta. Indonesia will host the meeting, incentive, convention and exhibition, or MICE, Business Event Asean in Tangerang, Banten, on April 9-18, 2018.
"This is the first opportunity for Indonesia to be the host. The event will bring foreign tourists and also provide opportunities for sellers to seize business opportunities in the MICE field," said deputy for tourism development at the Ministry of Tourism Esthy Reko Astuti in Jakarta on Monday (13/11).
The event will be participated by 200 sellers, 300 international buyers and 200 local buyers. MICE is included in the top five contributors in bringing in foreign tourists, in addition to shopping and culinary tours, heritage and religious tourism, marine tourism, and sports tourism," Esthy said.
Chairman as well as initiator of the exhibition Indra Sukirno said that the Asean market has a lot of potential.
"The 500 invited buyers are expected to bring business potential of at least $625 million over the next three years. This should be competed among Asean countries," he said.
"The buyers are from executive associations, corporations, meeting planners, consultants and event organizers. The sellers and buyers will meet in the 'Pre-Scheduled-Appointments' session, which is 20 minutes of business interaction between exhibitors and buyers," he said.
