Indonesian and East Timorese Singers Close 2017 Atambua Cross-Border Festival
Jakarta. Indonesian singer Judika Abadi and East Timorese artist Maria Vitoria drew more than 30,000 visitors to the Atambua Cross-Border Festival at Simpang Lima in Atambua, East Nusa Tenggara, on Friday (01/11).
The concert closed the 2017 Atambua Cross-Border Festival, which was aimed at attracting more tourists from neighboring East Timor.
"The entire event has enhanced relations between East Timor and Indonesia, which will support the development of tourism in the region," Indonesian Ambassador Sahat Sitorus said in a statement.
Judika rocked the audience with a setlist of his 11 hit songs, such as "Sampai Kau Jadi Milikku" ("Until You Are Mine"), "Bukan Rayuan Gombal" ("Not Flattery"), "Bukan Dia" ("Not Her"), "Sampai Akhir" ("Until the End") and "Separuh Napas" ("Half Breath").
Vitoria, an alumnus of Indonesian singing contest "D'Academy Asia 2," performed several songs, including "Bumi Semakin Panas" ("The Earth Is Getting Hotter"), "Nirmala," "Listen," "Despacito" and "Mira Santika."
Sahat said the Atambua concert series has become one of the most eagerly awaited events for East Timorese in the border area.
Atambua previously hosted the rock bands Slank, Jamrud and Cokelat and ska band Tipe-X.
According to Central Statistics Agency (BPS) data, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia through the border post increased 722.38 percent so far this year to 156,050 people, compared with the same period last year.
