Jakarta. Indonesian athletes dominated the first stage at the international cycling competition Tour de Linggarjati 2017 in Kuningan, West Java, on Saturday (02/12).

Muhammad Abdurrohman won the most prestigious category with a finish time of 18 minutes and 27 seconds in the 9.9 kilometer route. Prasetyo Nur Firdaus won the men's youth category while Dewika Mulya Sova won in the women's youth category.

More than 250 cyclists, hailing from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Mongolia, participated in the tournament.

"The event does not only serve as a tourism promotion for the region, but also as a platform to gather domestic and international cyclists," Kuningan district head Acep Purnama said in a statement.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said sports events like Tour de Linggarjati will elevate tourism in Kuningan as the event will help increase foreign tourists from Asean countries.
