Jakarta. State-owned railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia, or KAI, has introduced a new service called Tourism Train.
Tourism Train president director Totok Suryono said the train can be an alternative mode of transportation for tourists to comfortably move from one destination to another.
"Tourism Train is an alternative for tourists, so now they have many choices for transportation during their stay," Totok said in a statement on Wednesday (13/09).
Seven types of train, themed Archipelago, Bali, Toraja, Sumatra, feature original designs deriving from the regions.
Each train is equipped with a karaoke set, restaurant, mini bar and toilets.
Tourism Train currently serves on the Jakarta-Solo-Yogyakarta route and departs every Friday to return on Sunday.
The railway operator plans to open a new route from Jakarta to Surabaya.
