Jakarta. The Ministry of Tourism held a seminar on strengthening the tourism network in Labuan Bajo at Laprima Hotel, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara on Nov. 23-26.
"The goal of this event is to prepare Labuan Bajo to become a world-class tourism destination," tourism development deputy at the Ministry of Tourism, Esthy Reko Astuti, said in a statement on Sunday (26/11).
Basic infrastructure in Labuan Bajo such as roads, clean water facilities and the airport are still being improved.
"There are five pillars on which professional tourism should stand: academics, businesses, communities, the government and media," Esthy said.
The seminar was opened by West Manggarai Tourism Agency head Theodorus Suardi, and saw in attendance 100 representatives of various tourism stakeholders.
Among the speakers were Evodius Gonsomer from the Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies (Asita) and Silvester Wangger from the Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association (PHRI).
