Minister Urges Going Digital Movement to Improve Tourism Sector
Jakarta. Tourism Minister Arief Yahya urged the going digital movement to improve the tourism sector in Indonesia during his presentation at a focus group discussion at the Aston Inn Hotel in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Friday (17/11).
The seminar was also attended by Communication and Information Technology Minister Rudiantara and presidential spokesperson Johan Budi.
"We must be aware, digital will be more integrated into people’s daily lives. The strategies [of the government] to improve tourism should be quickly deployed to all regions," Arief said, as quoted in a statement.
In his presentation titled "Wonderful Indonesia Go Digital," Arief stressed the importance of accurate data to achieve public trust.
The minister also expressed his appreciation for Generasi Pesona Indonesia or GenPI, an online community dedicated to promoting Indonesian tourism by posting anything related to tourism on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Line, Path and other social media platforms.
"They are volunteers who tirelessly promote tourist destinations, events and tourism policies in Indonesia," the minister said.
