NAM Air Adds Direct Flight From Jakarta to Banyuwangi
Jakarta. Domestic carrier NAM Air started offering a new flight from Banyuwangi in East Java to Jakarta on Sunday (20/08).
NAM Air is a subsidiary of Indonesia’s third largest airline, Sriwijaya Air, and will use a Boeing 737-500W with a capacity of 120 seats on the new route, of which eight seats are reserved for the executive class.
The new flight route will depart from Jakarta at 14.10 p.m. and from Banyuwangi at 16.15 p.m.
The daytime flight is an addition to the already available morning flight, which departs at 07.35 a.m. from Jakarta and at 09.05 a.m. from Banyuwangi.
NAM Air started serving the Banyuwangi-Jakarta flight on June 16 and has since received positive responses from customers, scoring a seat load factor of above 85 percent by the end of July.
"It's possible we will add more flights to and from Banyuwangi, which should help its district head, Azwar Anas, meet his goal to expand tourism in the area," Agus Soedjono, Sriwijaya’s senior manager for corporate communications, said in a statement on Tuesday.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said he hoped the additional flights will persuade more tourists from Jakarta to visit Banyuwangi.
