Semarapura Festival Puts a Spotlight on Different Side of Bali
Jakarta. Bali's Klungkung district brings tourists to its main city, Semarapura, during a five-day festival to promote the region's culture and most interesting travel destinations.
"Several villages are showcasing their traditions, including the ancient baris jangkang and sanghyang jaran dances. This artistic and cultural event in Klungkung significantly enriches the cultural festivals regularly held in Bali," Deputy Minister of Tourism I Gde Pitana on Friday (28/04).
"While the festival is filled with cultural performances and highlights different tourist spots in Semarapura, we also want to promote Klungkung as a whole," Klungkung district head I Nyoman Suwirta said.
According to Suwirta, the festival, which will end on Tuesday, also aims to attract more attention to the most complete example of the Balinese architecture — a 18th-century architectural jewel, Kerta Gosa pavilion in the Klungkung Palace complex.
"We have organized a historical tour. Klungkung was one of the most important Balinese kingdoms. We hope this festival will attract the visitors to explore the history of Kerta Gosa and Semarapura," he said.
The festival also features a series of exhibitions by small and medium enterprises, and a job fair.
