Siti Nurbaya Market Offers Traditional Cuisine in Social Media-Friendly Way
Jakarta. Online community for tourism promotion GenPI will hold an offline market event, Siti Nurbaya Market, at the Gunung Padang football field in Muaro Padang, West Sumatra, on Sunday (26/11).
West Sumatra GenPI coordinator Aris Purnama said the market can become a new tourist destination.
"This market's design is attractive, with photo spots that make it social media-friendly," he said on Wednesday.
Siti Nurbaya Market offers traditional Minangkabau cuisine — lamang tapai, kolak pisang and kolak ubi (banana and sweet potato compote), satay, soto and traditional drinks.
"All meals will prepared by the ladies of Batang Arau district, we are empowering the local community," Aris said.
The market also offers interesting spots for photography with ornamental boats and vintage bicycles.
Visitors will also be entertained by the district's youth performing Minangkabau traditional arts.
Aris said GEnPI plans to open the market every weekend.
