Jakarta. The 2017 Tour de Singkarak in West Sumatra will feature the Saribu Rumah Gadang festival in South Solok, Solok, presenting traditional Minangkabau martial arts and dances on Nov. 22.

The Tour de Singkarak is an annual professional road bicycle race, named after Lake Singkarak. It will start on Saturday (18/11) and end on Nov. 26, with 20 teams from 30 countries.

The race, which covers 1,246 kilometers in nine stages will start in Tanah Datar and finish in Bukittinggi.

The festival in South Solok will complement the race by showcasing the province's dominant culture of Minangkabau.

"The Saribu Rumah Gadang festival will be held yearly. We will engage Solok artists such as famous choreographer Hartati. Hopefully, the event will help us preserve Minangkabau culture," South Solok district head Muzni Zakaria said on Wednesday.

During the event tourists are encouraged to wear traditional clothes — baju kurung for women and taluak balango for men.
