Tourism Minister Inspects Construction Progress at Silangit Airport
Jakarta. Tourism Minister Arief Yahya inspected the progress of construction at Silangit International Airport near Lake Toba in North Sumatra on Thursday (23/11).
The minister checked all the facilities at the airport, including the new international terminal that will be officially opened by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Friday (24/11).
Arief toured the airport accompanied by its manager Hotasi Manalu.
"More facilities mean more tourists. We'll see the impact of improved access to this area soon," Arief said.
Since it was upgraded into an international airport in September, many improvements had been made to Silangit Airport.
"The airport's new runway will be 45-meter wide, big enough for Airbus A320s or Boeing 737-800s," Arief said.
