Tourism Minister Visits London in Bid to Boost 'Wonderful Indonesia' Brand
Jakarta. Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has monitored the Wonderful Indonesia campaign prior to the country’s participation in the 37th World Travel Market London on Nov. 6-8 at the Excel London building by the River Thames.
The minister sat with secretary general of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifat and notable CNN host Richard Quest at a network TV dinner before the start of the event. The minister thanked Taleb Rifai for the development of the global tourism industry through his policies and also for other UNWTO programs.
While in London, Arief also visited the new Indonesian Embassy alongside Ambassador Rizal Sukma and I Gde Pitana, deputy for foreign marketing development at the ministry.
Kicking off in October and ending in November, the Wonderful Indonesia will fill London's streets. Three billboards can be seen all around the city, from Victoria Station, Borough Market London, to the city center on 10 Great Eastern Street.
Since Oct .16, 180 black cab taxis in London have been outfitted with Wonderful Indonesia advertisements. Arief said that Indonesia will perform with full capacity during WTM London, where the Indonesian pavilion will be home to the iconic Phinisi ship and 50 notable tourism industries.
The minister is optimistic that Wonderful Indonesia will outpace other countries' tourism campaigns. "What’s not possible? We have potential, will power and we must have the ability to get there."
